The difference in everyday use
Both Auri and Wispr Flow handle spoken self-corrections, remove filler words, format lists, and support personalized vocabulary for names. Auri also gives you Ask Auri inside the keyboard and an app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. Auri Voice is a separate app for dictation into other Mac apps.
Choose Auri when you want to dictate, ask questions, get help with tasks, and keep ideas in the same assistant. It also offers an on-device dictation engine on iPhone and iPad. Wispr Flow is a strong option if dictation across Windows and Android as well as Apple devices is your priority.

The first dictation opens Auri to start a session. After that initial handoff, you can start and stop more dictations from the keyboard without leaving the app you are writing in while the session stays active.
Clean mode follows spoken self-corrections, removes filler words, and formats lists. Custom vocabulary helps Auri recognize the names and specialist terms you use.
Prefer on-device dictation? Choose the On-Device English engine to transcribe dictation on your iPhone or iPad. AI cleanup, writing tools, and Ask Auri are separate network features.

Keep the conversation going with a follow-up. Attach a saved note or transcript for context, then insert the answer when it is ready. Calendar and reminder changes show a preview for you to confirm.

Tested versions: Wispr Flow 1.71, build 1698 and Auri 4.0. Auri’s touch results used its Siaru engine in a standalone test keyboard (revision 838fe4c); voice used the Auri app in Clean mode.
Limits: One phone, existing learned dictionaries, and one fixed-order series. Voice used 10 clean clips, 94 words, and two speakers. Gboard and SwiftKey language and swipe tests span two iOS builds. Touch and voice use separate scores; speed was not measured. The Auri team conducted the study and develops Auri.

Is Auri available on Mac as well as iPhone?
Yes. Auri is available for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. Auri for Mac has conversations and saved work. Auri Voice is a separate Mac app for dictating directly into other apps.
Can Auri transcribe dictation on my iPhone?
Yes. Choose the On-Device English engine to transcribe dictation locally on iPhone or iPad. AI cleanup, writing tools, and Ask Auri use the network separately; choosing local speech recognition does not make every AI feature offline.
Does the benchmark compare the Mac apps?
No. It tested the iPhone keyboards, including Auri in Clean mode and Wispr Flow 1.71. The results do not measure Auri Voice or Wispr Flow on Mac.
Why is Wispr Flow’s touch score lower?
The scoring gives zero points to unsupported features. The tested Flow build did not offer completion, a next-word suggestion strip, or continuous swipe typing. Its separate 95.0/100 voice score is the relevant measure for dictation in this test.
Does Wispr Flow process dictation offline?
Flow’s current help says offline recordings can be saved and retried when the connection returns. Auri offers an on-device English dictation engine on iPhone and iPad; Auri Voice also offers local speech engines on Mac. AI text processing has its own settings and network requirements.
